house hunting?

Tuesday, January 6, 2015

Anyone house hunting in the New Year? Happy 2015, by the way! My husband, who has a knack for coming up with some elaborate ideas, found this Ohio Richardsonian Romanesque looking for a new home.

That's right, the house is ready to move to the lot of your choice. It has some really lovely details inside. The video tour, below, really captures the woodwork and stained glass.

There aren't many great photos but here are a few.

Hello Ann, I guess your house-hunting problems are over. Even if you stayed in Japan, they apparently could find a way to ship this over.

Seriously, I see as much bad as good in this business of moving beautiful old houses. Of course, sometimes it is the only way to save them, but it is much better if the houses can remain on their original sites. Once the old buildings are gone, there is nothing to base a "re-gentrification" upon, so the deteriorated areas will have an even harder time coning back.
